Journal of Positive Psychology (Open)

Leisure and Positive Psychology

A special issue of the Journal of Positive Psychology with a focus on leisure will be published in 2018. Researchers are invited to submit manuscripts that consider issues of leisure within the perspectives of positive psychology.  We welcome empirical studies that employ diverse methods and theoretical frameworks that are shared by the two fields, including but not limited to: self-determination, meaning, flow, identity, authenticity, positive development, playfulness, happiness, hope and coping, optimism, and wellbeing. Conceptual discussions expounding theoretical commonalities between the fields and directions for collaboration between leisure and positive psychology researchers are also welcome. Submitted manuscripts should adhere to the aims and “Instructions for Authors” outlined by The Journal of Positive Psychology. Papers deemed suitable after initial review by the Editors of the special issue will undergo a blind peer review process that will include expert reviewers from the leisure and positive psychology fields. Questions should go to the editors, Dorothy (Dart) Schmalz schmalz@clemson.edu and Cynthia Pury cpury@clemson.edu.

Submission deadline October 31, 2016.

Scholarship Contest (Closed)

Graduate students are invited to submit a paper for the scholarship contest for the opportunity to present at the conference as well as receive one of our six awards.
